Jagwired Art is a multi-disciplinary surrealist artist based in San Antonio. Born in the Philippines to a military parent and an immigrant American, her work highlights the beauty of humanity and its deep connection with nature. Using ink, pencil, acrylic, and latex paints, Jagwired Art creates striking, vibrant works that evoke emotional connections through surrealistic imagery. By exploring the many facets of culture, symbology, lore, and history, she crafts visual dialogues that reflect the evolving consciousness of humanity. With a career spanning over 20 exhibitions, Jagwired Art has also curated group shows featuring more than 40 artists through Art of Consciousness, a collective she co-founded. This community-driven organization celebrates art, music, and collaboration while giving back to charities such as the SA Food Bank and the Battered Women’s Shelter. Believing in the power of art to illuminate the complexities of the human experience and our relationship with nature, Jagwired Art continues to use her work as a platform for deeper reflection and connection.

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

I create under the name Jagwired Art—a nod to the jaguar, a powerful symbol of the Amazon rainforest. My multicultural background serves as a catalyst for my work, allowing me to challenge my own perspectives and explore the complexities of human existence through vibrant, surreal imagery. Each piece I create delves into the vast landscape of human consciousness, weaving together symbols, lore, and historical cultural elements passed down through generations of people – amalgamating those aspects into a cohesive image. The result is a visual dialogue on what it means to be human. With my work, I aim to spark conversation—encouraging viewers to connect, to find themselves within the imagery, and to explore the rich, beautiful symbols of our collective ancestors and their stories. By bringing these elements to life, I hope to inspire curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of human experience. My artistic practice spans various mediums, including ink, pencil, acrylic, and latex paints, applied to diverse surfaces—ranging from traditional canvas to large-scale murals and fiberglass sculptures. One of my sculptures was featured in San Antonio Day of the Dead, and I’ve also designed a logo for the nonprofit organization Four Winds Connections. My work is rooted in honoring ancestral symbology, highlighting human stories, and emphasizing the role of nature in our collective experience. Years of research in cultural studies have helped shape my approach, allowing me to merge history, myth, and contemporary perspectives into immersive, thought-provoking compositions.
