-Location #1 – SW 37th St & Old Hwy 90 W, San Antonio, TX, 78237
Inspired by the musical legacy of this historic corridor, especially with Conjunto and Tejano music, the towering mosaic figure becomes a lively jewel along Historic Old Highway 90. The accordion player’s instrument becomes an extension of his body. From his mouth flows the image of the iconic scroll, used in several Mesoamerican cultures, to identify speech and sound.
-Location #2 – the River Walk Public Art Garden (where this dedication will take place). The outstretched accordion looks as if it is ready to be played. This joyful sculpture is a tribute to Tejano music and culture.
