Houston Street and St. Marys St. set up and painting in situe photo credit Laurel Gibson and Julie Gibson
Vivid colors on big canvases painted on site depict artists Laurel Gibson’s vision of San Antonio, her paintings provide an insight into the imagination showing both the scene and its sensory feelings.
Painting “en plein air” a French term meaning out of doors refers to the practice of painting entire finished paintings outside. With only a palette knife on large scale canvases artist Laurel paints in an abstract impressionist style directly on the street.
