    “Bernard’s Bench” by San Antonio artist Twyla Arthur is a bench comprised of mosaic tile and small mementos contributed by the community and features the phrase ‘Ars Longa, Vita Brevis’ (“Art is Long, Life is Short”). The artwork honors the memory of Bernard Lifshutz and clearly establishes the presence of Southwest School of Art’s entrance to the River.

    “East Commerce Street Benches” by San Antonio artist James Hendricks highlights various characteristics of the city’s East Side along the Commerce Street neighborhood.

    “Falcone Park Benches” by San Antonio artist Leticia Huerta is comprised of limestone benches with carved native tree foliage and descriptive text. The benches feature pecan, live oak, cedar elm and mesquite.  
  • Kite Table

    “Kite Table” by San Antonio artist Stuart Allen encourages individuals to engage in outdoor activity and public spaces through the use of imagination. The piece takes inspiration from folded paper, but is fabricated from steel. The table top references a diamond kite, while the light fixture next to the table references a kite in flight. Along the table are etched diagrams for making kites from Japan, Korea, and Guatemala, countries present the HemisFair ’68 World’s Fair. “Kite Table” is part of the series “Play” located in Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair Park.     “Lavaca Bus Shelter” by San Antonio artist Carlos&nbsp;Cortés is a covered bench at a bus stop created from concrete in the faux-bois technique to look like thatched tree forms.&nbsp;
  • Marney Plaza
    Marney Plaza

    “Marney Plaza” by San Antonio artist Oscar Alvarado is comprised of three mosaic-covered concrete spheres that serve as pedestrian seating and amenities. The tile enhancements vary in shape and form and are intended to provide a cheerful and inviting environment.
  • ReinCARnation
    ReinCARnation
    Category: Bench; Functional; Outdoor Sculpture
    ReinCARnation” by San Antonio artist Twyla Arthur is comprised of two vintage cars found on the Northwest Service Center site at the start of construction. The lighting vehicle at the front gate (the “Ghost Car’) directs Northwest Service Center visitors into the facility. The shade structure vehicle (the “High Ride”) provides an enticing gathering space for employees. Tile benches throughout the site reference the administrative and mechanical work performed at the Northwest Service Center in the spirit of artistic celebration. <br> <br> ReinCARnation is currently in progress.
